João Pedro (J.P.) is an Exercise Scientist with 10+ years of practical and research experience. He has worked extensively with exercise training and nutritional interventions aimed at optimising body composition, muscle function, and health outcomes across a broad range of populations; from physique athletes to sarcopenic nonagenarians. He is currently completing his PhD in Exercise and Sports Science at Edith Cowan University, with a research focus on muscle mechanics, exercise interventions, and ageing.
His expertise includes:
Leading 1:1 and small-group resistance exercise training classes
Conducting assessments including muscular strength and power, ultrasound muscle morphology, senior functional fitness and mobility, body composition (DEXA, BIA, etc.), and cardiometabolic fitness (blood lactate, VO₂ max).
J.P. has also tutored Biomechanics and Functional Anatomy classes at ECU. Alongside his practical and teaching work, he has a strong research track record, with over 100 scientific publications and multiple international collaborations, with a main focus on Resistance Training for strength and hypertrophy. Born in Brazil, J.P. is also fluent in Portuguese and can get by pretty well in Spanish.
